ENTER THE STORY

Nacre and the identities beneath the waves

Ena Sorel is looking for someone a registry can no longer account for. Among Nacre’s floating cities, her search moves between submerged remains and family secrets. The danger also lies in what a name permits: receiving relief, collecting a payment, consenting for someone else. Ena’s discovery gives a face to people the other worlds know only through their files.

Beneath the floating cities, who is allowed to leave a trace?

  • Nacre: cities above the depths
  • A disappearance to investigate
  • The first world in the series

The mystery begins underwater, but its consequences reach the living. Ena Sorel must understand what an empty chamber reveals and what official records leave unsaid. On Nacre, a name can unlock assistance, authorize a decision or make someone visible at last.

Choose this first world for an investigation shaped by family secrets and submerged remains. It is also the opening route into the five-world series: a local story, characters to follow closely, and events whose other sides emerge in the companion novels.

THE ILLUSTRATED A+ PRESENTATION

The Year of Five Worlds

Inside The Nameless Drowned

On Nacre, cities float above the depths. Salvage diver Ena Sorel knows what waits below. But when she retrieves a burial chamber whose occupant is missing, the evidence points to something far more deliberate than an accident.

The trail leads through borrowed identities, agreements signed on behalf of absent people, and a voice her family thought it had lost. Every answer makes the past less certain. To keep searching, Ena must confront what those closest to her have concealed.

Meanwhile, decisions made on the other planets of the Orme system are reaching Nacre’s floating cities. People erased from the records are still binding the living to promises. Finding someone will not be enough. Ena must help restore their right to speak for themselves.

The Nameless Drowned opens The Year of Five Worlds with a mystery of identity, grief, and family secrets. An ocean world, a distinct investigation, and the first clues to a story that crosses five planets in a single year.

How the five stories connect

A shipment held on Veyre is missed on another planet. Relief granted on Aeral commits lives on Iskar. An identity recovered on Nacre changes the meaning of a file elsewhere. The connections grow out of practical decisions, and no character can see all their consequences.

At the heart of these exchanges lies a question that runs through the year: who can consent on behalf of the absent? Behind medical care, wages, and rescues, commitments made for other people become pieces of a shared mystery.

Each novel follows its own characters and local conflict. Reading all five reveals the other sides of the same events. The book order, from Nacre to Iskar, follows the gradual disclosure of their connections.
